Black and White with One Color Tutorial

This is a really easy process that has a huge impact on photos, using Smart Photo Editor.

The photo I have picked is in color, if yours is already in black and white just ignore this step.

My background is already white so I just use the Select Area tool (the button is on the right) and then clicked the Subject, to select the body and legs of the ballet dancer, clicking the Confirm Selection and Add Effects button to the right when I am happy with my selection.

Don’t worry if you accidentally go over the area you wanted to select, there is an Erase From Selection button on the right, and you can change the size of your detector as well.

3

You can just flick through the pages of effects or on the right you can narrow down your search, the effects can also be edited so you can change it to be completely to your liking.

4

Next is to select what you want to be in your chosen color.

Just like before you chose the Select Area button and this time select what you want to be in color.

5

Click the Confirm Selection and Browse Effects button when you have finished selecting.

6

Have a look through the effects, click on them if you like them (some of the colored  effects allow you to chose the color and shade you want), also the Master Fade allows you to choose how strongly the effect is applied.

If like me you can’t pick just one, you can save the image then change it.

8

At the top of your screen, on the right is a history of all the steps you have taken, just simply hoover over it and click the X. Then click Select Area (don’t worry you don’t have to re-select it all again) and then on the right it should have your previous selection history, simply click Add Subject button and continue as before.
